Okinawa Prefecture is located in the southernmost of the Nansei islands spreading southeast of Kyusyu along the asian Continent. Its area of the sea studded with islands from latitude 24 to 27 degrees north, is larger than the part of Mainland Japan included in the circle whose circumference passes through Tohoku and Chugoku Districts, when drawn with a pair of compasses pivoting on Tokyo. On the world map, Okinawa is on the same latitude as Maiami and Nassau, belonging to the world-class resort belt. | ||||||||||

| Islands of Okinawa Okinawa Prefecture consist of many islsnds such as the Okinawa Islands as the core, the Miyako islands, and the Yaeyama islands. Out of its 57 islands in total, 40 are inhabited islands. The Largest islands Okinawa Main island. and after this, Iriomote islands, and then Ishigaki islands. The total area of the Prefecture is 2,254 square kilometers, almost the same size as Kanagawa Prefecture. |
